Main subject: planning a building on a given urban lot
Leading concept: design for special users
Architectural program: library for toddlers and pre-kindergarten children.
I chose to design for toddlers and small children because they are intriguing for library design for two reasons: first - they don't know how to read yet and some of them don't even know how to speak. Second, I found that their experience of space is quite different from that of an adult.
My inspiration for the architectural design, therefore, was a children's book and I chose a famous one called "The Generous Tree". I broke down the process that is described in the book into four stages, translated them into tangible physical spaces, and finally connected them to a complete assembly adapted to the lot given.
